We are Calvium
Saliha Ahmed is a designer with a background in digital, print and packaging and is fascinated by interface design and technology, exploring how the digital can intersect with the physical world. Saliha obtained a First Class Honours in Graphic Communication.
Róisín Alvy, also known as Ro, is a certified Scrum Master and digital project manager with experience in delivering innovative projects for clients in both digital agency and SaaS environments. Since joining Calvium in August 2018, Róisín has delivered multiple complex app releases for a variety of our clients achieved through her focus to bring clarity to complex requirements. Ro also holds a First Class BA Honours degree in Publishing Media and APM Project Fundamentals qualification.
Mariia brings skills from her legal experience in Ukraine to projects across Calvium, contributing organisation, testing, data, content and research. She loves the variety of work, and relishes learning and building on new skills, including UX, UI, coding and languages. Outside work she volunteers for With Love to Ukraine, helps with interpretation for Ukrainians at a Bristol care home, and supports Ukrainian children in local primary schools.
Julius has a broad background in design and development. He enjoys taking an interdisciplinary approach to creating engaging and compelling interactive experiences utilising new technologies and best practices. He takes particular joy in problem solving and coming up with innovative ideas.
Matty is a certified Scrum Master and senior project manager with over ten years experience delivering software. Coming from the corporate space, working with large enterprise clients such as McDonald’s, Disney and Mott MacDonald; Matt transitioned into third sector three years ago. Working with Not For Profit and charity firms such as Chatham House, the British Medical Association and the UN Capital Development Fund reflects Matty’s passion for equality, accessibility and social value.
Carrie joined the Calvium team as a Business Consultant in 2023, focussing on our pioneering Visit A Venue product. With her many years of experience in sales, plus running her own successful business, she brings a broad range of commercial skills to our team. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and dog, attending arts and music festivals (as long as it’s not raining) and walking.
Pablo Carrillo is our Technical Delivery Manager and in house iOS Specialist and has developed apps for clients such as Yodel and Fatbrain. Working in mobile development for over seven years, Pablo is also skilled in areas of projects, processes and planning. He holds a 5 year degree in Telecommunication Engineering, focused on telematics, from the Universidad de Sevilla in Spain. He has a special interest in mobile communications, networking and devices.
Chris is a Developer with rich experience of building user-friendly data interface tools. Since his degree in software engineering, he has played key roles in teams building data-driven websites and SaaS applications within global data analysis corporations. At Calvium, Chris focusses on building cloud based web services, utilising a broad range of frameworks and technologies.
Ben Clayton is Calvium’s founding Technical Director. He specialises in system architecture, tools and mobile technologies. Ben has deep expertise in developing software platforms as well as native mobile apps, being highly skilled in both iOS and Android development. Ben is able to make apps communicate effectively with almost anything, from apps that control showers and set lighting controls to the more familiar API interfaces and back-end systems.
André is a Developer specialising in iOS development. He contributed to a number of iOS apps for big UK retailers before joining Calvium. André holds a BSc in Computer Science and a MSc in Software Development. Originally from Portugal, Andre has a keen interest in problem solving, user experience and new technologies.
Ben Fowkes is an experienced business consultant, and government expert, with over ten years in the tech for good sector. He was Commercial Director at Delib, a digital democracy company known for its widely used consultation and engagement platform: Citizen Space. In that role Ben helped hundreds of public institutions with problems as varied as communications, service design, qualitative analysis and cultural change. Ben is working on the Place Experience Platform, introducing it to more people and scaling adoption.
With a Bachelors degree in Architecture and a diploma in building surveying, Arthur’s background is within the built environment. He has a lifelong passion for technology which has prompted a career change and internship with Calvium, which has led to him joining our team full-time as a Developer specialising in web technologies.
Marisa applies her extensive experience of producing communications materials for SME and third sector organisations to support Calvium’s external communications. She builds the company’s visibility and brand; ensuring the business values are shared clearly through regular multi-channel communications. Between work and family commitments, she volunteers as comms lead for a CIC, and marshalls at local Park Runs.
Jo works at the intersection of design, research and business. Focussing on digital innovation, she creates and delivers successful strategies and projects to maximise impact, accelerate growth and create rich customer experiences across a range of sectors – including property, the creative and cultural industries and education. Discovering the opportunities and value that bespoke digital placemaking affords clients involved in large scale urban developments is a core area of Jo’s work – with the aim of creating more pleasurable, sustainable and citizen-centred future cities.
Jon is an experienced engineer, systems designer and innovation manager with a wealth of knowledge from his work at Rolls-Royce. He was most recently Emerging Capabilities manager, with previous roles including Systems Design Integration & Configuration (SDI&C) manager; Future Programmes SDI manager, and Systems Design Integration & Configuration (SDI&C) manager. He has led many methods improvement initiatives such as rapid capability deployment, Emergent Design, High Performance Computing and Digital Twins. Jon is a fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering Design and a Masters in Design Systems in Production.
Vitor is a developer with a history in native Android engineering. After getting his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, he published his own Android apps and was part of a design and development start-up in Portugal, before joining us here at Calvium. Vitor now works primarily with React Native to engineer both front- and back-end.
Jo brings her consultancy expertise and vast mobile design experience to the heart of the executive team. Holding an MBA and BSc in Computer Science, Jo was formerly a senior researcher at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories. As well as captaining the Calvium ship, Jo offers our clients expertise in mobile experience design, particularly in regards to location and context aware applications.
With three decades of experience in the finance industry, Amy is a trusted leader and expert in financial management. She has worked with businesses of varying sizes, from startups to large corporations, developing financial systems and strategies that ensure sustainability, profitability, and long-term success. Amy has continually demonstrated an ability to navigate complex financial landscapes, make data-driven decisions, and lead teams toward operational excellence, demonstrating not only technical skills but also a deep understanding of the broader business environment.
Fernando studied Computer Science at the University of Seville, before starting his career as a full-stack developer. He’s spent time living and working in California, Singapore, Finland and remotely from several countries. Since 2015, he’s specialised in iOS and Android engineering and now lives in Seville, Spain.
