Jo brings her consultancy expertise and vast mobile design experience to the heart of the executive team. Holding an MBA and BSc in Computer Science, Jo was formerly a senior researcher at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories. As well as captaining the Calvium ship, Jo offers our clients expertise in mobile experience design, particularly in regards to location and context aware applications.
Client Services Director
Tom delights in blending his in-depth technical knowledge with a genuine interest in his clients. His holistic approach to app development has resulted in him winning a 2014 Brand You Award as well as a plethora of awards and commendations for many of his clients apps. Tom also plays an active role in Bristol’s tech sector – as one of the organisers of SW Mobile, you’re likely to find him speaking at a conference or sharing his ideas at a networking event.
Ben Clayton is Calvium’s founding Technical Director. He specialises in system architecture, tools and mobile technologies. Ben has deep expertise in developing software platforms as well as native mobile apps, being highly skilled in both iOS and Android development. Ben is able to make apps communicate effectively with almost anything, from apps that control showers and set lighting controls to the more familiar API interfaces and back-end systems.
Project Manager & UX Designer
Kieron Gurner is a project manager and UX designer, putting stakeholder co-creation central to his approach. He has worked with clients across different sectors, including Tower Bridge Exhibition, Yodel, National Theatre and Historic Royal Palaces. His previous expertise as a developer has given him an understanding of the technical, as well as experience aspects of a project, providing an holistic approach to working. He holds a First Class BSc in Web Design from UWE, Bristol.
Programme Director: Digital Innovation
Jo works at the intersection of design, research and business. Focussing on digital innovation, she creates and delivers successful strategies and projects to maximise impact, accelerate growth and create rich customer experiences across a range of sectors - including property, the creative and cultural industries and education. Discovering the opportunities and value that bespoke digital placemaking affords clients involved in large scale urban developments is a core area of Jo’s work - with the aim of creating more pleasurable, sustainable and citizen-centred future cities.
Technical Process Manager
As the Technical Process Manager at Calvium, Hanna manages the day to day technical operations of our projects and oversees the Quality Assurance processes for all the apps we build. With a Master’s Degree in Law from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan and previous experience as a Project Manager at Augmented Reality startup 3R Studio Mobile, Hanna brings together her keen organisational skills and pure passion for technology to ensure every app leaving our office is on spec and on time. Hanna has undertaken QA activities for clients including The City of London, Yodel and Rolls-Royce.
Technical Delivery Manager & Developer
Pablo Carrillo is our Technical Delivery Manager and in house iOS Specialist and has developed apps for clients such as Yodel and Fatbrain. Working in mobile development for over 4 years, Pablo is also skilled in areas of projects, processes and planning. He holds a 5 year degree in Telecommunication Engineering, focused on telematics, from the Universidad de Sevilla in Spain. He has a special interest in mobile communications, networking and devices.
Charlie is responsible for Calvium’s marketing strategy and outputs. A talented and adaptable marketeer, Charlie also enjoys helping our clients think about the marketing, PR and promotion of their apps. She holds a joint honours degree in Journalism and Film and an award from the Certified Institute of Marketing.
Web & Mobile Developer
Nuno joins Calvium from Portugal where he obtained a degree in Computer Science and began developing video games in Unity 3D for a leading studio. He now specialises in native and cross-platform development, with particular emphasis on React Native. A wealth of Calvium’s clients, including Rolls-Royce, have benefitted from Nuno’s fastidious and enthusiastic approach to programming.
Mobile Software Developer
Brian has worked as a software engineer for 8 years professionally. After graduating from University of California Santa Cruz (B.A. Computer Science, B.A. Film and Digital Media), he worked as a software engineer until attending the DigiPen Institute of Technology to earn an M.S. in Computer Science. For the last 6 years, he has developed mobile games and apps with addictive gameplay and intuitive UI, giving him a deep knowledge of mobile platforms and 2D/3D graphics development.
Richard has been a professional software developer for the last 9 years, working on everything from databases and backend systems to web and mobile front-end UI. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Bristol. A self-proclaimed lover of debugging, Richard’s scrupulous work has helped realise prestigious projects such as Yodel's first delivery tracking app and the Candide app.
Chris is equipped with an array of skills ranging from motion, interactive and web design to illustration, book making and screen printing. Well practised in designing for mobile, he has provided the graphics for many of the apps that Calvium has produced as well as taking charge of the graphic design for Calvium’s own print and digital outputs.
Richard holds a DPhil in Computer Science from Sussex University and has authored many publications and patents. One of Calvium’s founders and a previous Managing Director, Richard now brings his extensive experience of technology innovation and business development to Calvium’s board.
Phil was a founder of Calvium and its first Managing Director. He also co-founded the Pervasive Media Studio with Watershed. With years of experience leading research he now works for BBCR&D.
With a Bachelors degree in Architecture and a diploma in building surveying, Arthur's background is within the built environment. He has a lifelong passion for technology which has prompted his recent career change and internship with Calvium.
